Tollywood’s High-Stakes July: Three Stars, One Comeback Month
July is usually a quiet month in Tollywood when it comes to big-ticket releases. Filmmakers typically aim for festive or summer seasons to cash in on the holiday crowd. But breaking that norm, July 2025 is shaping up to be unusually exciting, with three major releases lined up—each carrying high stakes for their leading stars.
First up is Nithiin’s Thammudu, hitting screens on July 4. After the success of Bheeshma, Nithiin’s career has been on a downward spiral with a string of flops, the latest being Robinhood, which ended up as a disaster. With Thammudu, directed by Venu Sriram, Nithiin is banking heavily on a strong comeback.
Next in line is Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara, slated for release on July 18. Post the energetic success of Dhamaka, the Mass Maharaja too has been grappling with underwhelming results. Directed by Bhanu Bhogavarapu, this film is seen as a crucial turning point in Ravi Teja’s journey to reclaim his mass hero status.
Finally, Megastar Chiranjeevi returns with Vishwabhara on July 24, marking his comeback after a two-year hiatus. Following the debacle of Bholaa Shankar, Chiru is eyeing redemption with this high-budget, VFX-heavy socio-fantasy directed by Vassishta. With massive expectations riding on it, the film needs to perform well not just for Chiranjeevi, but also to safeguard the producers who’ve invested heavily.
With all three stars looking to bounce back from recent setbacks, July might just turn out to be a game-changer for Tollywood. Will this unexpected release window spark a new trend? We’ll have to wait and see if the month proves to be a lucky one for Nithiin, Ravi Teja, and Chiranjeevi.
