Andhra Pradesh has set a new milestone by becoming the first state in India to offer government services through WhatsApp. In the initial phase, 161 government services will be available to the public, with more expected in the future. This initiative was officially launched by State IT Minister Nara Lokesh at his residence in Undavalli today.

Minister Lokesh highlighted that in addition to providing public services, the government will also use WhatsApp to share important information. Citizens can now access services directly through their smartphones using the number 9552300009. This move aims to bring government services closer to the people, making them more accessible and efficient.

During his Yuvagalam padayatra, Minister Lokesh realized that many people had to travel long distances and wait in long queues to avail even basic government services. This experience motivated him to work on a solution that would make services available through smartphones.

WhatsApp governance in Andhra Pradesh is the first of its kind in the world. Citizens can now access a wide range of documents, such as birth and death certificates, educational certificates, and more. Additionally, this system is expected to help combat the issue of fake certificates, ensuring authenticity and convenience for the public.
