AP Employees protest demanding abolition of CPS

The Employee unions have staged protests in all districts across Andhra Pradesh demanding the cancellation of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS). Employees staged agitation programs with rallies and dharnas in the state.

On the occasion, the union leaders said that they are concerned that the CPS policy would prevent the employees from getting pensions. They reminded that CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had promised to cancel the CPS during his tenure as leader of the Opposition and demanded that it be implemented.

The union leaders said that they had waited for two-and-a-half years after the YSRC government came to power, but the Jagan government ignored the issue. The employees want the old pension policy by abolishing the existing CPS policy. The employee unions warned that they would increase the agitation if the government did not respond positively.
