One of the most controversial decisions by the previous YSR Congress government was the alleged misuse of government funds to finance propaganda films, including Vyuham, directed by Ram Gopal Varma (RGV). With the change in administration under the NDA government, irregularities in the AP Fibernet system have surfaced, bringing the issue back into the spotlight.
GV Reddy, the chairman of AP Fibernet, addressed the media to shed light on the misuse of funds. He revealed that the government had used AP Fibernet resources to pay RGV for creating propaganda films such as Vyuham. According to Reddy, the department has formally requested RGV to repay the money that was transferred to him through these funds.
In a surprising turn, RGV responded that he does not have the funds to repay the amount. “We issued a notice to RGV for the repayment of the misused funds, but he claimed that he currently doesn’t have the money and is unable to make the repayment,” said Reddy.
The controversy revolves around an alleged payment of Rs 2.15 crore made to RGV through a pay-per-view streaming model for Vyuham. The film reportedly garnered only 1,863 views, raising questions about the disproportionate payment. The government is now taking steps to investigate and pursue the case further.
