AP Government Taking A Step Back On The Historical Bill!

The Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy introduced the historical Disha Bill last year, which aims at completing the case trails in 21 days in rape and gang rape cases.

However, now the Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up to withdraw the Andhra Pradesh Disha Bill, 2019 from the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly.

It is believed that the state government took this decision to make the amendments and suggestions made by the Union government, which sent back the bill citing that the bill needs more changes.

This is the reason why even after the Andhra Pradesh Assembly passed the Andhra Pradesh Disha Bill, 2019 on December 14, last year the bill has not come into effect till now.

However, there is no information on what amendments did the Centre suggest to the state government over the historic bill. More details in this regard are awaited. We will get more information once the official statement is issued.

The state government introduced the Disha Bill after the horrific incident of Disha incident took place in Telangana’s Hyderabad. Telangana is the first state in the country to introduce such a bill.

As per the procedure, the state government will make the required changes and amendments to the Disha Bill. Once the amendments are made the bill will be tabled in the State Assembly again.

After the house approves the bills, then the bill will be sent to the Centre again. The bill will come into effect only after the Union government approves the Andhra Pradesh Disha Bill, 2019.
