AP Govt Hands Over 3 Lakh Houses in One Day

The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up for a massive event that will see three lakh families moving into their new homes on the same day, marking a major milestone in its promise to provide housing for the poor.

In just 17 months, the government has completed and handed over these houses under the “Housing for All” initiative. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched the event virtually from Devagudipalli village in Rayachoti mandal of Annamayya district, interacting with beneficiaries and symbolically distributing house keys.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), a total of 3,00,192 houses have been completed across the state—2,28,034 under PMAY–BLC, 65,292 under PMAY–Gramin, and 6,866 under PMAY–Janman. All these houses are ready for occupancy, and families will perform Gruhapravesam ceremonies simultaneously across Andhra Pradesh.

The government’s free sand policy, allowing up to 20 tonnes of sand per family, has made construction faster and more affordable. Since 2014, the TDP government has built around eight lakh houses, and continuing that legacy, the current NDA government has completed another three lakh homes in record time.

The previous administration had cancelled over 4.7 lakh sanctioned houses and stopped payments to 2.7 lakh families, stalling progress. The new government cleared all pending bills and revived the projects, bringing long-awaited relief to poor families.

Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that providing a home for every poor family remains a top priority. More houses are under construction and will soon be handed over. Ministers and representatives across all districts will participate in the celebrations, making this a landmark moment for Andhra Pradesh.
