The Andhra Pradesh Government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced Chief Adviser to CM Neelam Sahni as the new Election Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh. She took charge as the new SEC on Thursday.
The state government proposed Neelam Sahni as the new SEC with the tenure of the previous SEC Nimmagdda Ramesh Kumar will end on the 31st of March.
After taking charge, Neelam Sahni held a crucial meeting with the concerned officials reportedly to discuss key elements pertaining to the Parishad elections that are pending, media reports claimed.
It has been widely reported that the new Andhra Pradesh’s State Election Commissioner might take a crucial call on the ZPTC and MPTC elections and she might announce the details at a press meet.
Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar who conducted the Local Body elections and Civic Body polls couldn’t conduct the Parishad elections. He announced that he will not be able to conduct the polls and his successor will take care of the polls.
After the AP government proposed her anime as SEC to Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan, she had resigned from her post as advisor to Chief Minister. Neelam Sahni will serve as the SEC for five years.
