The Archery Association of India officially launched the inaugural edition of the Archery Premier League (APL) on Thursday in New Delhi. Six franchises selected 48 archers — 36 Indian and 12 international players — to compete in the league’s first season.
Actor Ram Charan graced the launch and unveiled the league. Speaking to the media, he highlighted archery’s importance in Indian culture and history and expressed pride in serving as the league’s brand ambassador. Charan also shared a personal connection, recalling his role as an archer in his film RRR.
Actor Randeep Hooda, also present at the event, said the APL would provide young players with international exposure. He added that he is proud to be associated with the Delhi-based team, Prithviraj Yodhas.
Archery Association of India president Arjun Munda stated that the league aims to bring hidden talent to the forefront and prepare athletes for future Olympics. A foreign coach will be appointed for the Indian team with the 2028 and 2032 Games in mind.
Ram Charan’s portrayal of Alluri Sitarama Raju in RRR brought him international acclaim as an archer, making his association with the Archery Premier League a natural extension of that connection.
