Some films leave a lasting impact, and Sukumar’s cult classic Arya, starring Allu Arjun, is one of them. Even after more than two decades, the film and its chart-topping music by Devi Sri Prasad continue to be cherished by audiences across India.
This Diwali, among the four films hitting theatres, one stands out — Dude. Though it’s a dubbed film, it has managed to capture the attention of Telugu audiences with its catchy music, relatable theme, and impressive promotional content.
A grand pre-release event for Dude was held in Hyderabad on Wednesday, where the film’s team interacted with fans and the media.
Director Keerthiswaran, making his debut with Dude, opened up about his journey and creative inspiration. Having previously worked as an associate to Sudha Kongara on Soorarai Pottru (Aakasam Nee Haddura in Telugu), he shared that Arya played a major role in shaping his vision for Dude.
“I love Arya so much. It inspired me to make Dude,” he said, expressing admiration for the timeless film.
Keerthiswaran also spoke warmly about his bond with Telugu cinema and its people.
“Though I was born and raised in Chennai, my first film offer came from Mythri Movie Makers, a Telugu production house. I worked under Sudha Kongara, who is also Telugu, and I reached out to Mythri because of my cinematographer and close friend Niketh Bommi, who too is Telugu,” he shared.
He went on to praise the production banner for their trust in newcomers.
“What’s special about Mythri Movie Makers is that they approved my script in just one narration. They make massive films but also encourage debutant directors — and that’s very rare,” he added.
Starring Pradeep Ranganathan, who became a familiar face among Telugu audiences with Love Today and Dragon, Dude is written and directed by Keerthiswaran, with music composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, Dude is set for a theatrical release on October 17, promising a youthful and emotional cinematic experience this Diwali.
