As a result of chaos created by Covid, Narendra Modi’s popularity sinks lwo!

The devastating situation in India triggered by the novel Coronavirus and the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are co-related. As the situation started to turn problematic, Modi’s popularity began to fall gradually.

A US data intelligence company said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ratings stood at 63 percent this week. The ratings is the new low in the past seven years.

Modi’s image among Indians has also started to fall. Taking to social media, Indians are expressing their anger towards the Centre led by Narendra Modi. Since the second wave has started, Modi has been criticised severely by opposition parties and critics.

The US-based data intelligence firm tracked the popularity of the Indian Prime Minister in 2019, a year after BJP made it to power at the Centre. April this year saw Narendra Modi’s rating fall rapidly. April is the time when the second wave of the virus has hit the country very hard.

During the first phase of Covid, Narendra Modi earned popularity by tackling the virus. But the second wave has highlighted how the major cities and states are struggling with pandemic effects.

Lack of healthcare facilities like medical oxygen, Covid vaccine, resulted in cases going up and patients losing their lives. As a result, several states underwent lockdown restrictions so that the virus is contained.

What’s even more shocking is that social media played a big role in BJP coming to power in the 2014 and 2018 elections as well. But the same social media became a platform now for Indians to target the saffron party and Narendra Modi.
