Despite YS Jagan announcing his plans to revive his Party in Telangana, apart from Sharmila’s yatra there has not been much activity in the region by the Party. Jagan’s silence on the TRS regime has further strengthened speculation that there was a tacit pre-poll understanding between YSRCP and the TRS which is still in vogue.
Recently, a YSRCP legislator from Khammam also switched over to the TRS and strangely, the move elicited no response from Jagan. Now there are rumors that YSRCP legislator from Pinapaka, Payam Venkateswarulu was also about to join the TRS bandwagon. This has evoked a strong response from Telangana YSRCP President, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
“The news that Venkateswarulu is joining the TRS is absolutely false. There are certain issues in the constituency but they will be solved by us. The TRS is encouraging defections. This is absolutely undemocratic and totally unacceptable,” said Srinivas Reddy.
Venkateswarulu also confirmed that he was not interested in joining any other Party. ““The YSRCP made me legislator and gave me an opportunity to serve the people. I am always indebted to the party and Srinivasa Reddy,” Venkateswarulu said.
Anyway, it is finally heartening to see someone from the YSRCP speak out against ‘operation Akarsh’ of the TRS and thereby fulfill its responsibility of an Opposition Party.
