Music maestro A.R. Rahman, renowned for delivering timeless chartbusters over the last three decades, is all set to step in front of the camera for the first time in his illustrious career. According to the latest reports, the Oscar-winning composer will make his acting debut in the upcoming comedy film Moonwalk, which stars Prabhudeva in the lead role.

While Rahman has made a few cameo appearances in songs earlier, he has never portrayed a full-length character until now. In Moonwalk, he will be seen playing a fictionalised version of a film director named A.R. Rahman. The film is being directed by Manoj N.S. and produced by Behindwoods Productions.

Interestingly, Rahman will be portrayed as an angry young director, marking yet another first in his career. He has not only composed the music but has also sung all five songs in the album himself. This makes Moonwalk the first film in which the entire soundtrack features Rahman’s unified vocal presence.

When director Manoj N.S. approached Rahman with the role, the legendary composer reportedly agreed instantly, eager to explore his acting potential. Moonwalk also marks the first-ever collaboration between Prabhudeva and A.R. Rahman, and the duo has already shot a song together, which is said to have turned out exceptionally well.

Sources reveal that Rahman thoroughly enjoyed shooting for the film, with the entire unit thrilled to witness him perform as an actor. While Prabhudeva will be seen as a choreographer, Rahman plays the role of his film director.

The ensemble cast of Moonwalk includes Aju Varghese, Arjun Ashokan, Satz, Sushmitha, Nishma, Swaminathan, Redin Kingsley, Rajendran, Deepa Akka, Santhosh Jacob, and Ramkumar.
