Baby Tanvitha returns to adoptive mother Swaroopa’s fold

Bollywood’s acclaimed folklore horror film Tumbbad, directed by Rahi Anil Barve and Anand Gandhi, first released in 2018, offered audiences a unique blend of myth, fantasy, and thriller elements. Although it received widespread critical praise, the film did not perform strongly at the box office initially. However, its re-release in 2024 turned it into a surprise commercial success, drawing renewed appreciation and strong collections.

Following this resurgence, the makers have officially begun preparations for a sequel, Tumbbad 2, which has already generated significant buzz even before production begins. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 3, 2027.

Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has already been confirmed for the sequel, adding to the excitement around the project. Unlike the first installment, which featured relatively fresh faces, the sequel is expected to feature a larger scale production with more prominent stars, raising expectations significantly.

According to industry reports, the makers are considering several top Bollywood and South Indian actors, including Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, and Nayanthara, for key roles. However, official confirmations regarding their involvement are yet to be made.

The sequel will be directed by Adesh Prasad, who was also involved in the writing of the original film. He has stated that Tumbbad 2 will retain the core essence and mythology of the first part while expanding its narrative into a more immersive and intense cinematic experience.

With higher production values, a broader cast, and heightened anticipation, Tumbbad 2 is shaping up to be one of the most awaited fantasy-horror films in Indian cinema.
