Balakrishna Puts Krish’s Aditya 999 on Hold After Ghaati Flop

Director Krish is going through one of the toughest phases of his career. His latest release, Ghaati, turned out to be a major disaster at the box office, adding to a string of setbacks that already includes NTR Mahanayakudu, Kondapolam, and the troubled Hari Hara Veera Mallu (which he directed only in parts).

Despite these failures, Nandamuri Balakrishna had placed his trust in Krish again, mainly because of their past success with Gautamiputra Satakarni. The plan was for Krish to helm Aditya 999, the much-awaited sequel to Balayya’s cult classic Aditya 369.

However, the disappointing outcome of Ghaati has reportedly made Balakrishna cautious. Sources suggest that while he hasn’t completely written Krish off, he wants the director to take more time to refine the story. Balakrishna has advised Krish to rope in top writers and ensure a watertight screenplay before moving forward with Aditya 999, given the film’s ambitious scale and expectations.

In the meantime, Balakrishna is set to proceed with director Gopichand Malineni’s upcoming period drama, which will go on floors soon.

For Krish, Aditya 999 could still be a comeback opportunity — but only if he manages to deliver a gripping and foolproof script that matches the weight of Balayya’s legacy.
