The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a cash reward of Rs 5 crore for the Indian U-19 women’s team and their support staff following their dominant victory in the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur. India successfully defended their title, thrashing South Africa by nine wickets in the final, retaining the crown they won in the tournament’s inaugural edition.

In a statement, the BCCI congratulated the Indian team, saying, “The BCCI extends its heartfelt congratulations to the India Under-19 women’s team for successfully defending their title at the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 in Malaysia.” The reward recognizes the team’s remarkable achievement and the leadership of head coach Nooshin Al Khadeer.

Captain Niki Prasad led her squad to an unbeaten campaign, showcasing excellent skill and composure throughout the tournament. BCCI president Roger Binny praised the team’s exceptional performance: “Congratulations to our girls for retaining the U19 Women’s World Cup. This trophy reflects the growth of women’s cricket in India, and I’m delighted to see each member shine in this tournament.” India dominated throughout the tournament, remaining unbeaten and clinching the final with 52 balls to spare. South Africa, who opted to bat first, were dismissed for just 82 runs.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia also congratulated the team, emphasizing the dedication and resilience the players showed to secure back-to-back titles. “This historic feat showcases their dominance on the global stage and highlights the strength of India’s grassroots cricket,” Saikia said.

Several standout performances helped India in their march to victory, including G. Trisha, who scored 309 runs and was named Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament, also picking up seven wickets. Spinners Vaishnavi Sharma (17 wickets) and Aayushi Shukla (14 wickets) also played crucial roles in the team’s success.

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla expressed pride in the team’s achievement: “Winning back-to-back World Cups is no easy feat, and this triumph reflects their discipline, determination, and fearless brand of cricket.”

The victory further strengthens the BCCI’s commitment to developing young talent through its age-group and grassroots programs, ensuring a strong pipeline for the national team. BCCI treasurer Prabhtej Singh Bhatia also congratulated the team, highlighting their maturity and composure under pressure, which helped them defend their title.

This victory not only adds to India’s growing dominance in women’s cricket but also showcases the bright future of the sport in the country.
