The flagship scheme announced by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) government, Dalit Bandhu in the wake of the upcoming high intense by-election in the Huzurnagar Assembly constituency had attracted widespread criticism. The project launched in the poll-bound Huzurabad had made the opposition parties intensify their attack against the government on the scheme.
As a bid to hit back at the criticism faced over the Dalit Bandhu scheme, the government on Wednesday announced that the scheme would be implemented in four more mandals. The mandals would be from four different Assembly constituencies, represented by the Dalit legislators.
It is said that the government had picked Chintakani mandal(Madhira constituency), Tirmalgiri mandal(Tungaturthy), Charagonda mandal(Achampet ), and Nizamsagar mandal(Jukkal) to extend the Dalit Bandhu scheme along with the Huzurabad Assembly constituency. It is said that all the Dalit families in the four mandals in the Assembly constituencies will be given the benefits of the scheme.
Dalit Bandhu, a scheme aimed at the welfare of the Dalit families was launched in the Huzurabad Assembly constituency in August this year. The project was started as a pilot project. The Telangana government had released Rs 2,000 crore for the scheme in Huzurabad. The process of identifying the beneficiaries is underway. The Concerned officials are preparing a detailed list of the beneficiaries. Around 20,000 beneficiaries will be benefited from this.
More details on the implementation of the Dalit Bandhu scheme in four other mandals are likely to come from the government after the key meeting. CM KCR is expected to chair a crucial meeting on this after he finishes his visit to New Delhi that lasts for three days.
Once he comes to Hyderabad from New Delhi, CM KCR would chair a key meeting with the District collectors, Ministers, and MLAs of the four mandals.
Under the Dalit Bandhu scheme, the beneficiaries will be given a cheque of Rs 10 lakh each for the families. The money will be deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiaries directly as financial assistance for the Dalit families to help them empower. Other than Telangana, no other state in the country has such schemes.
