Megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently shared his thoughts on staying committed to a single path as the key to reaching one’s ultimate destination. Writing on his blog, Big B emphasized avoiding distractions from the multiple paths others may suggest.
He wrote, “Never take never granted for granted,” and recited lines from his legendary poet father Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s Madhushala, which reflect that in life, people will often offer different and conflicting directions. Through this, Big B highlighted the importance of single-minded focus, perseverance, and staying true to one chosen path.
He elaborated, “Alag alag path batate sab, par main yeh batlaya hun; raah pakad tu ek chala chal pa jaaayega Madhushala… there is but one path to your final destination. Keep moving forward, and you shall get there.”
Currently hosting the new season of the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, Amitabh also opened up about the emotional challenges of witnessing contestants face disappointment. On August 15, he wrote about the difficulty of watching hopeful participants fail to win, sharing, “We sit on the hot seat and confront contestants who have ambitious hopes of winning during their week on the show… and when they cannot make it, it’s the hardest to control the frustration of defeat and lost opportunity for them.”
He added that despite his attempts to console them, the pain of losing a life-changing opportunity is heart-wrenching. “No amount of consolation at the time can give them complete solace… Many have sacrificed study or job opportunities to reach the fast track and main chair, only to miss the chance to win. Such moments are difficult to witness,” he wrote.
However, Big B also stressed resilience, offering encouragement to try again. “A smile of ‘try again’… a word of encouragement that all shall be fine… loss is not the end of life; it’s a learning. As the saying goes, Mann ka ho to acha; na ho toh zyada acha.”
He concluded on a reflective note, reminding that life is about effort and experience, not just success: “Few may follow this principle, and that is heartbreaking… but as they say, the show goes on. One comes away thinking not only of the winner and their expertise, but also of those who tried and lost. Life is indeed a tough job.”
