Director Krish, renowned for blending social themes with commercial cinema, is gearing up to deliver an adrenaline-charged, female-centric action drama titled Ghaati, with Anushka Shetty in the lead role.

In an exclusive interview, Krish shared exciting details about the film: “Ghaati is a full-on action entertainer centered around Anushka’s character, set against the rugged backdrop of the Andhra-Odisha border. Like my previous films, it delves into deep human emotions while delivering a complete paisa vasool experience.”

The story was originally narrated to Krish by writer Chintakindi Srinivasa Rao, who introduced him to the concept of the Ghaatis—people in the Eastern Ghats who trek with loads of 100–150 kg on their shoulders to transport goods. “In our film, Anushka’s character, Sheelavathi, is shown transporting ganja,” Krish explained.

He added, “The writer gave me a 25-page story, which we developed into a full screenplay. I had long wanted to create a female-centric film and was eager to work with Anushka. She was initially interested in Saroja 2, but I suggested we keep that untouched. Ghaati is a larger-than-life story, and Anushka perfectly embodies the role—she looks incredibly convincing as Sheelavathi and is a true crowd-puller.”

Krish further elaborated on the film’s theme: “The story explores identity versus survival. Those who amass wealth through the Ghaatis often look down on them. The film addresses this societal dynamic while staying grounded in emotion.”

Importantly, Krish emphasized the film’s responsible approach: “Ghaati does not glorify the use or trade of ganja in any way. As a filmmaker, I ensure my stories carry a socially responsible message while remaining entertaining.”

Krish also spoke briefly about his upcoming project Hari Hara Veera Mallu, highlighting his commitment to diverse storytelling that blends action, emotion, and social relevance.
