BJP still looks for communal politics in AP!

Bharatiya Janata Party, which has no political base in Andhra Pradesh, is still looking to exploit the communal sentiments to gain some identity in the state, as it has not been able to take up any people-oriented issues.

On Monday, BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana submitted a memorandum to Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan stating that the attacks on Hindus and temples by Christians have been on the rise since Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy took over as the chief minister.

Kanna alleged that Jagan had been encouraging only one particular religion and had been insulting Hinduism.

He cited the examples of burning of a temple chariot in Nellore and demolition of a temple at Pithapuram.

He also found fault with the YSRC leaders for speaking against Citizenship Amendment Bill and instigating the Hindus.

“The YSRC had voted for the CAA in Parliament, but now, it is opposing the CAA and NRC only to appease minorities,” the BJP leader said.

Kanna asked why the YSRC leaders were participating in anti-CAA rallies on the lines of the Congress and the Left parties.

He sought to know why the Jagan government had kept silent when the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president Asaduddin Owaisi made provocative speeches in Guntur.
