In a measure of high level of preparedness, the BJP has asked all its Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs to reach Delhi by July 16. The party is planning to provide training to all its MPs on how to cast the votes in the presidential elections. The MPs would be in Delhi till July 18, the day of polling. This is part of the BJP plans to ensure that not a single vote goes invalid.
On July 16, BJP national president JP Nadda will hold a dinner meeting with all the party MPs. The BJP has put up Draupadi Murmu as its candidate. Though she is comfortably placed and is fancied to win hands down, the party does not want to take any chances. Hence, special training is being provided to all the MPs on how to vote.
The total value of the votes in the presidential election is 1086431. The total number of voters is 4809. The BJP has a clear majority as it has the support of the YSRCP, Biju Janata Dal and the AIADMK. Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena, Akali Dal and the BSP are also supporting the BJP candidate. In addition, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha too has decided to support Murmu as she is a tribal candidate.
The BJP MLAs across the country would be provided with training in the respective states. Meanwhile, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has been made incharge of the presidential campaign of Draupadi Murmu in South India. He is already planning Murmu’s tour of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.
