Sunkara Padmasri, Head of AP Congress’s Women’s wing, spoke to the media regarding the BJP’s stance on Amaravati and explained the various steps the Congress tried to take in order to protect Amaravati.
Padmasri said that the Central Government paid a deaf year to the requests of the various political parties that had been to Delhi, in order to save Amaravati, and in order to make sure that Amaravati would be the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh.
She also said that she tried to get the appointment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi several times, but couldn’t get one. She said that she planned on discussing various aspects regarding the state of Andhra Pradesh, and how the state was not being ruled well by the Jagan government.
Padmasri condemned the way the center failed to response to the way the Jagan government was ruling the state, and even deeply scorned the affidavit the Center submitted to the AP High Court, stating that it had no say in the Capital issue, and that it was totally up to the state government.
Furthermore, Padmasri criticized AP BJP President, Somu Veerraju ‘s recent comments on reinstating Amaravati as the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh, just for the sake of power in the state. She said that when ex-president Kanna Lakshmi Narayana spoke in favor of Amaravati, he was removed from his position unjustly.
