Naga Babu Condemns Moral Policing, Defends Women’s Right to Choose Attire

Mega brother Naga Babu has strongly responded to actor Shivaji’s remarks advocating that women wear sarees at public events, a statement that sparked widespread debate across the cinema world. Taking a firm stand, Naga Babu criticized moral policing, emphasizing that personal choice in clothing is a fundamental right protected under the Indian Constitution.
“Women’s choice of clothing is a personal right. Moral policing is against the Constitution. These days, everyone—from illiterates to pundits to actors like Shivaji—are busy advising women, which is unnecessary and anti-constitutional,” he said.
Naga Babu highlighted that multiple Indian courts have declared moral policing unconstitutional, as it infringes on core fundamental rights. He cited Articles 14 (Equality), 19 (Freedom), and 21 (Right to Life and Personal Liberty) of the Constitution, noting that freedom, dignity, privacy, and equality are not just legal terms but rights upheld by the judiciary.
His firm stance has won widespread applause, even as debates continue with some criticizing public figures like Chinmayi and Anasuya for calling out Shivaji’s remarks.
