
A deadly explosion took place inside a metro train at Russia’s Sennaya Ploshchad station, killing at least 10 people and injuring more than 20 persons.
The saddening incident has been highly condemned by President Vladimir Putin, who was in St. Petersburg to attend an event, and he’s ordered an investigation into it. Although no terror groups have claimed responsibility for this dreadful attack, Russian Prime Minister Dimtry Medvedev called it a ‘terror attack’ on his Facebook page.
According to Russian state media, the device that caused the blast is a bomb filled with shrapnel and police official have recovered the second explosive device which was set up at St Petersburg metro station. Several victims were shattered into pieces wounded were immediately rushed to hospital by emergency services and apparently, security has been beefed up across the city.
The attack in Russia comes amid the reports that the country’s air force and special forces have been backing Syrian president Bashar-Al-Assad in fighting the Islamic State (IS) and rebel groups in their country.
