Cinema enthusiasts are currently relishing the theatrical screenings of Khaleja and catching up with the thriller Bhairavam on the big screen. Simultaneously, there is growing excitement around the latest releases on OTT platforms, with Mohanlal’s Thudarum now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar and Suriya’s Retro also available for viewers to enjoy. However, fans are particularly eager for the digital premiere of Tourist Family, which has generated considerable buzz.
Both Thudarum and Tourist Family garnered significant attention during their theatrical runs. While Thudarum emerged as a major hit, breaking new ground by becoming Kerala’s first ₹100 crore grosser, Tourist Family outperformed expectations to become an even bigger box office success. Notably, Tourist Family did not have a Telugu theatrical release, which has heightened anticipation for its OTT debut among Telugu-speaking audiences.
Mohanlal has once again reaffirmed his status as a box office powerhouse with consecutive blockbusters Empuraan and Thudarum. The latter, directed by Tharun Moorthy, was a surprise sensation that exceeded low initial expectations to achieve record-breaking commercial success. The film’s stellar ensemble cast includes renowned actors such as Sobhana, Prakash Varma, Farhan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, Irshad Ali, and Aarsha Chandini Baiju.
Thudarum is now available on Jio Hotstar, streaming in multiple languages — Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada — with English subtitles, catering to a diverse pan-Indian audience. Impressively, the film was released on OTT just five weeks after its theatrical premiere, allowing fans to experience the blockbuster from the comfort of their homes.
As Thudarum and Retro continue to captivate viewers online, the anticipation for Tourist Family’s OTT launch only grows stronger, promising an exciting season for movie lovers across platforms.
Tourist Family marked the debut of young filmmaker Abishan Jeevinth. The comedy drama is produced by Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment. The movie also features M. Sasikumar, Simran, Mithun Jai Sankar and Kamalesh in the lead roles, alongside Yogi Babu, M. S.
The film is yet to hit OTT and it will be made available on June 2nd. While the audiences started liking Thudarum, they are also waiting for Tourist Family.
