Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan seems to have become a box office behemoth in China. After his last film, ‘Dangal’ did a phenomenal business there (almost $200 million in full run), his new release, ‘Secret Superstar’ is performing even better.
Secret Superstar was released in China this Friday, and the film opened at No.1 position at Chinese box office, collecting a huge $6.86 million. The reviews for the film were exceptional, even better than Dangal’s, and the same reflected on Saturday.
The film saw a massive jump in collections on its Day 2, Saturday, collected a mindblowing $10.45 million. The two days total reached to a phenomenal $ 17.31 million [Rs 110.52 Cr]. Trade analysts and movie ticket booking websites in China predict the Sunday collections to he much higher than Saturday’s.
Astonishingly, ‘Secret Superstar’ in China crossed its full run collections in India in flat two days, an incredible feat by any measure. The film is doing this sensational business even though Aamir played only a special role. Zaira Wasim, the girl who made her debut with ‘Dangal’, was the protagonist of Secret Superstar.
Going at this rate, Secret Superstar will most likely break the full run record of Dangal, which minted $200 million in China.
