Even as the capital issue remains very much conflicted in the state of Andhra Pradesh, with Amaravati farmers protesting against the 3 Capital idea for over 200 days now, the governor of AP has approved the bill put forth by the YSRCP.
It’s been 9 months since Chief Minister Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy introduced the idea of 3 Capitals in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative assembly, and the bill was not received well by many. The opposition, TDP, has made sure that it poses all sorts of hurdles to the bill, and see to it that Amaravati is restored as the sole capital of the state.
With the TDP strongly opposing the bill, the bill went to the Legislative council, where it got approved, and once again came back to the Legislative assembly for approval. After it was approved in the assembly, the 3 Capital bill and the CRDA Repeal bill were forwarded to the Governor of the state, Biswabhushan Harichandan, for his approval.
When the governor sought legal advice on the bills, everyone was tense, but with the governor now approving the bill, the ruling party is rejoicing in its victory.
However, protestors, especially the farmers of Amaravati are saying that they are not going to lose hope, and that they trust in the High Court, in which several cases regarding the 3 Capitals are still going on. The farmers are saying that the High Court will make sure that justice is served to them.
