The Embassy of Bulgaria in New Delhi, in collaboration with VFS Global, has announced the rollout of long-term visa (D visa) application services across multiple Indian cities. This strategic expansion introduces new, modern Bulgaria Visa Application Centres in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi, streamlining the process and removing the requirement for applicants to visit the embassy directly.
The agreement was formally signed on October 24, 2025, by H.E. Dr. Nikolay Yankov, Ambassador of Bulgaria to India, and Ms. Yummi Talwar, Chief Operating Officer – South Asia at VFS Global, during a ceremony held at the Bulgarian Embassy in New Delhi.
Starting November 1, 2025, long-term visa applications will be accepted at the New Delhi centre. Appointment bookings for the additional cities are scheduled to open from mid-November, with online scheduling available at: visa.vfsglobal.com/ind/en/bgr
“The launch of Bulgaria’s long-term visa services across India marks an important step in strengthening the people-to-people and business ties between our two countries,” said H.E. Dr. Nikolay Yankov, as quoted by Trade and Travel Journal. “This initiative will make the application process simpler and more accessible for Indian citizens traveling for study, work, or family reasons.”
Highlighting the longstanding collaboration, Ms. Yummi Talwar noted,
“Our partnership with the Government of Bulgaria has been built on trust and service excellence since 2008. Extending our services to long-term visas will further enhance convenience and accessibility for applicants across India.”
In addition to core application processing, VFS Global offers several optional value-added services, including Visa At Your Doorstep, Premium Lounge access, Prime Time submission, courier returns, SMS updates, and form-filling support. However, the company emphasized that these services do not influence processing timeframes or visa outcomes.
VFS Global has been managing Bulgaria’s visa operations since 2008 and currently operates 116 application centres across 31 countries, providing administrative support while final visa decisions remain solely with the Embassy of Bulgaria.
