Female centric movies with comedy content are a rarity, not just in terms of content but also in terms of success at the box office. We have many female-centric films that featured the likes of Taapsee, Amala Paul and other heroines failed at the box office. Only those movies with horror comedy have worked out.
In the wake of these beliefs, the only film that changed the perception of filmmakers is Samantha’s Oh Baby movie. The success of this film has proven that wonderful drama laced with comedy is always a safe bet at the box office. Treading in the same lines, now Keerthy Suresh’s Miss India is coming up.
Though Keerthy is enjoying new fame after bagging the National Award for Mahanti performance, one wonders if that is any measure of the potential to bring audiences to theatres. Keerthy doesn’t have a craze or stardom like that of Samantha to run the film on her own shoulders and to bring massive footfalls to theatres.
But if the actress succeeds to pull it off, then we could say it as the arrival of another lady superstar.
