After the likes of Ashwini Dutt’s daughter, Swapna Dutt and a couple of media firms entered into producing content for OTT platforms, now Allu Arvind is producing content for his own app, Aha, while the likes of Sharat Maraar, Krish and Navdeep are also trying to produce content. And here comes Eega fame producer Sai Korrapati trying to enter the same line.
Though Sai Korrapati has initially shot to fame for making films that have interesting content, some back to back flops have hit his production company hard. That’s the reason he kept away from raining his films at the box office and focussing on distribution like earlier. And now, the producer is said to have readied a couple of concepts in order to make his OTT debut, mostly for Aha app.
An OTT debut is not the big thing here, but a change of mindset thereby choosing different stories is the need of the hour. Whether it is Swapna Dutt’s Gangstars for Amazon Prime or Sharat Marar’s remake of Bengali web series as ‘Sin’ for Aha, or Krish’s Mastis- all these web series have one thing in common. They are stuffed with routine and beaten to death content. If Sai Korrapati wants to make a difference, then he has to choose something innovative that this space loves.
When audiences are catching up with The Rain and Money Heist on Netflix, Fleabag and Hanah on Prime Video, Special Ops and Mrs Fletcher on Hotstar, one should really pick up something super creative, new and deliver a terrific output. Hope Sai Korrapati could become that game changer.
