In a shameful incident, SC, ST caste names were written on the chests of candidates appearing for the police constable selections in Madhya Pradesh. However, none of the candidates whose chests were labelled with their caste names objected to the shocking act or filed a complaint.
The incident took place during the medical teat at the district hospital in Dhar on Saturday. Police authorities who were conducting the selection trials defended their act, saying that it was only “to avoid confusion” as candidates were segregated based on their castes.
Needless to say, the incident has created a huge stir in national politics. Several prominent national Dalit leaders like Mayawati and Ramdas Athawale and several Congress leaders condemned the act. Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan had to face the ire of the opposition leaders, who alleged that it’s an attack on the Dalits and minorities in the BJP-ruled state.
