In a shocking revelation by NDTV after reviewing the fresh CBI documents on Gali brothers in connection to the illegal export of iron ore mined from Karnataka, the media report said the national investigating agency has began to close the cases on Gali brothers citing technical reasons.
Close on the heels of Karnataka Assembly elections (on April 12), Gali Janardhan Reddy is the chief campaigner for the party in the region, with 9 of his ardent followers including Sriramulu were given tickets to contest for Assembly elections on BJP tickets, the CBI beginning to close cases on the Gali brothers is gaining huge significance.
Going into details, one among powerful Reddy brothers Gali Somashekhara Reddy is contesting from Bellary on BJP for 2018 polls. Two of the three brothers are BJP candidates from Bellary are in election fray. Gali Janardhan Reddy, who is out on bail after spending three years in jail and did lavish wedding of his daughter, is campaigning for BJP. BJP has ensured that Gali Janardhan Reddy is not present in Amit Shah & MODI meetings. It is buzzed that BJP needed Reddy brothers to win election in the area and speculations are rife that BJP is “compromising” on their CBI cases.
Adding more fuel to those speculations, the CBI is now closing cases against Gali brothers in state after state citing technical reasons. Reddy brothers are accused in the illegal export of iron ore worth Rs 12,000 crore from 9 ports spread across 4 states. In 2013, CBI has been handed over the cases by the Karntaka state government. Four years later, just before Karnataka elections, closing the CBI cases on Gali brothers is raising many eyeballs.
BJP’s Scam-Tainted Candidates in Karnataka Polls
Meanwhile, it is not just Gali brothers. The long list of BJP candidates in Karnataka elections fray have candidates who were acquitted in Corruption, forgery, cheating and rape cases. Two of them had spent quite time in jail on charges of cheating, forgery. Katta Subramanya Naidu and Krishnaiah Setty who were jailed in land scams but acquitted later are contesting from Shivajinagar constituency and Malur respectively.
