There has been an impression in general public that CBI works only for the powers that are ruling the country and not for the benefit of the people. As Cong ruled the country for most of the time, opposition leaders and people branded CBI as Congress Bureau of Investigation. The organization functioning is also not above suspicion if one sees its behavior in various cases regarding Jayalalitha, Lalu Prasad, Mulayam Singh, Mayawathi etc. Whenever they are supporting Cong, there wont be any cases against them and the moment they turn against Cong, CBI will get full powers.
It seems Cong is following the same policy in case of YSCP leader Jagan Mohan Reddy. CBI under its leadership was in hot pursuit till now after sending him packing to Chanchalguda jail. But ever since MIM leader Owaisi meeting Jagan during presidential polls and with Jagan sending clear signals that he is not averse to supporting Cong after next elections, CBI changed track. Center changed CBI’s lawyers and since yesterday while Jagan’s lawyers Gopalaswamy and others went hammer and tongs at CBI lawyers with numerous questions, CBI’s new lawyer Mohan Jain was tight lipped during entire arguments. All this clearly shows that CBI is singing Cong songs.
