The National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre has not given any clearance or approval for the decision of the YSR Congress party government in Andhra Pradesh to create three capitals for the state. This was made clear by BJP national spokesman and Rajya Sabha member G V L Narasimha Rao.
He was reacting to the reports that appeared in a section of media that chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy had kept Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah in loop over the plan to shift administrative capital to Visakhapatnam and had taken their permission before going ahead with the bills.
“Such reports are fabricated. The Centre has not given any permission whatsoever to shift the capital from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam. The three capitals plan is just bogus,” he said.
GVL, who had been saying all these days that the centre had no role to play in the capital formation.
Reacting to the appeal made by the TDP that the Centre should play the role of big brother in the capital shift, the BJP leader lashed out at it, saying the TDP was trying to impose its inefficiency on the BJP.
He refuted Jagan’s claim that Amaravati would continue to be the capital city.
“Just because there is an assembly, Amaravati cannot be called a capital city. May be, Jagan is trying to avoid legal hassles by claiming it to be the capital city,” he said.
GVL also found fault with Jagan government for trying to mislead the people by raising the issue of insider trading.
“If there is any such illegality, why can’t the government file case against the TDP leaders?” he asked.
