Centre Shocks Ap,rejects Polavaram Bills Worth Over 800 Crores!

It’s an open secret that no matter which party will be at the Union level, it will not give much importance to the southern states compared to the northern states. The same was proven time and time. Recently, The Telangana government had earlier expressed its dissatisfaction over the Padma Awards.

Now it’s the turn of the Andhra Pradesh government to face the heat of the policies of the Union government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP). However, the reason is different from that of Telangana. Andhra Pradesh is facing issues with the Union Government being strong on its stand to not accept the revision made by the Andhra Pradesh government on the estimations for the Polavaram project. The Centre said the revisions under the drinking water burden cannot be accepted.

As a fresh shock to the state, the union government is said to have rejected the bill sent by the Andhra Pradesh government. The bills are worth Rs 805.68 that includes the bills of left and right canals and the land acquisition.

A letter was sent to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi by YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy requested the Union government to look into the estimation revisions of the Polavaram project. However, the letter could not make the Centre change its stand.

Earlier the Andhra Pradesh government had requested that the limitations that were implemented department-wise should not be taken into consideration as the union government is yet to approve the 47,725 in the detailed project report (DPR). However, the Ministry of Water Resources had refused the government’s request.

The union government’s adamant nature on the revisions on the estimation for the Polavaram project would show a big impact on the polavaram project works. With no funds for the project, it makes it tough for the Andhra Pradesh government to pay money for the company for the work.

One more concern regarding the Polavaram project is that the permission that was given by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change will expire on the 2nd of July this year. The Andhra Pradesh government is hoping that the permission for the works would be extended.
