Chandrababu-Lokesh Enjoy Top-Level Access in Delhi

Securing appointments with central ministers in Delhi is widely recognized as one of the most challenging tasks in Indian politics—a fact highlighted during the tenure of former CM YS Jagan, who often struggled to get timely meetings. However, the current Andhra Pradesh leadership under Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, along with his son and IT Minister Nara Lokesh, is navigating Delhi with ease.

Over the past 15 months of the NDA administration, Chandrababu Naidu has visited the national capital at least a dozen times to meet Union ministers. Lokesh, too, has been actively engaging with top central leaders, frequently holding multiple high-level meetings. Even today, Chandrababu is in Delhi meeting several Cabinet ministers to secure key projects and financial allocations for Andhra Pradesh. This comes just days after Lokesh’s visit, during which he met eight ministers back-to-back.

This access underscores the growing importance of TDP within the NDA alliance at the Centre. Alongside leaders like Bihar’s Nitish Kumar, TDP plays a pivotal role in maintaining the alliance’s parliamentary strength. This enhanced prominence is now translating into the priority treatment that Chandrababu and Lokesh enjoy in Delhi.

While the previous administration struggled to secure even a single appointment, the current leadership is meeting multiple Cabinet ministers with remarkable regularity. Chandrababu has long emphasized that numbers will be decisive in the 2024 elections, and that foresight is now being used strategically to benefit Andhra Pradesh.
