Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has once again emphasized the importance of adopting healthy eating habits in today’s fast-paced world. He highlighted how food choices can significantly influence an individual’s longevity and overall well-being.
Naidu is the first chief minister in the country to actively counsel people on dietary habits, explaining their impact not only on personal health but also on agricultural and irrigation practices. Recently, he advised the public to reduce their intake of salt and oil to promote better health.
Addressing TDP leaders, he recalled how the introduction of the Rs 2 per kg rice scheme by the party founder NT Rama Rao led to a widespread shift towards rice consumption in drought-affected regions. However, Naidu warned that excessive rice consumption is now contributing to a rise in diabetes. He noted that earlier, people’s breakfasts often included jowar, ragi, or eggs, depending on the availability of local grains.
Proudly sharing his personal habits, Naidu mentioned that omelets are a staple in his breakfast, emphasizing the importance of protein-rich foods for body growth. Today, there is a growing focus on protein intake, with eggs, chicken, and fish becoming common dietary choices. He also spoke about the benefits of millets, fruits, and vegetables in maintaining a balanced diet, highlighting how their cultivation has boosted horticulture in the state.
The shift towards these crops has also accelerated the adoption of micro irrigation techniques. Naidu proudly stated that Andhra Pradesh leads the nation in micro irrigation, with around 16 lakh hectares cultivated using this efficient method. This irrigation system has gradually become automated, enabling farmers to conserve water by controlling its release to crops via smartphone apps.
The public appreciates the 75-year-old CM’s efforts to prioritize the health and welfare of citizens in Andhra Pradesh, reflecting his commitment to both personal well-being and sustainable agricultural development.
