Chandrababu Promotes Aqua Food Amid Export Challenges

Andhra Pradesh continues to hold the top spot in India’s seafood exports, contributing nearly 80% of the nation’s shrimp exports, valued at around ₹21,000 crore, as highlighted earlier by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

However, the state’s export potential faces challenges due to tariffs imposed by the Trump administration in the United States. In response, CM Chandrababu has written to the central government seeking a financial compensation package to support the aqua industry amidst these pressures.

On another note, the Chief Minister took the opportunity in the Assembly to promote the consumption of aqua food. He emphasized the nutritional benefits, stating, “I make it a point to consume fish or shrimp at least once a day. Aqua food is an efficient source of protein and should be a regular part of everyone’s diet. Just as we previously encouraged egg consumption to boost protein intake, a similar initiative can be planned for aqua food.”

Chandrababu also suggested introducing aqua food in schools and colleges once a week, highlighting his commitment to nurturing healthy eating habits and supporting the state’s aquaculture sector.
