Andhra Pradesh politics is showing a stark contrast between former CM YS Jagan and current CM Chandrababu Naidu in their handling of political violence. Between 2019 and 2024, YCP supporters were involved in multiple attacks on TDP cadres, including incidents of offices being set on fire and party members being injured.
During these events, Jagan reportedly remained indifferent, suggesting that such clashes were perhaps provoked by TDP leaders, giving the impression that YCP’s actions were acceptable.
In contrast, Chandrababu Naidu has taken a firm stance following attacks on the homes of Ambati Rambabu and Jogi Ramesh. He instructed the Andhra Pradesh Police to take strict action against the culprits, regardless of party affiliation, while also urging party activists to maintain public order and refrain from violence.
Observers note that Naidu’s approach emphasizes public harmony and social justice, highlighting a clear difference from Jagan’s previous response to political unrest.
