Chandrababu’s Davos Visit, Promoting AP’s Investment Opportunities

The Andhra Pradesh government’s participation in the World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Davos, Switzerland, has sparked considerable debate. The delegation, led by CM Chandrababu Naidu and including IT Minister Nara Lokesh, Industries Minister T.G. Bharat, and other officials, attended the event with the slogan “Brand AP.” They spent four days in Davos, along with meetings in Zurich, showcasing the state’s investment opportunities. Despite their efforts, while other states made tangible agreements, the opposition YSRCP criticized the team, alleging that no investment deals were signed.

In response, Chandrababu and his team clarified that the primary purpose of attending the forum was not to secure investment agreements but to promote Andhra Pradesh’s investment potential. They stressed that Davos should be viewed as an opportunity to connect with global companies and explore long-term investment possibilities, rather than a platform for immediate deals.

Recently, TDP leader and Union Minister of Civil Aviation, K. Ram Mohan Naidu, weighed in on the issue. He acknowledged that states like Maharashtra and Telangana secured investments at Davos, with Mumbai and Hyderabad emerging as key investment hubs. However, he emphasized that Andhra Pradesh had already attracted a whopping ₹6.33 lakh crore in investments over the past seven months, without the need for the Davos trip.

Ram Mohan attributed this success to the leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu, who has become the face of Andhra Pradesh, much like Mumbai for Maharashtra and Hyderabad for Telangana. He also reiterated that explaining the investment opportunities in the state to global companies at Davos was an essential part of the trip, as it aimed to build awareness and encourage future investments.
