Charan Picks What NTR Passed: Buchi Babu’s Peddi Creates Buzz

Share

After delivering a sensational debut with Uppena, young director Buchi Babu turned his attention to a much bigger canvas—a sports drama with none other than Jr. NTR. The project generated quite a bit of buzz initially, but NTR later opted out, reportedly because he didn’t find the subject compelling enough at that time.

Interestingly, Buchi didn’t shelve the script. Instead, he approached Ram Charan with the same idea, and this time, the concept struck the right chord. Charan was quick to see the potential in the story and gave his nod, effectively breathing new life into the project that NTR had once passed on.

Such instances are not uncommon in the Telugu film industry. Time and again, we’ve seen scripts that were first rejected by one star only to go on and become massive hits with another. A prime example is Pushpa, which was initially narrated to Mahesh Babu but ended up becoming a global sensation with Allu Arjun. In this light, Charan picking up the script originally penned for NTR is just another reminder of how dynamic film choices can be.

Now, with the glimpse of Peddi finally out, discussions have reignited. The initial visuals have impressed audiences, with many praising Buchi Babu for capturing a rugged, commercial vibe that suits Charan perfectly. The director seems to have showcased his ability to blend aesthetics with mass appeal effectively.

However, the real challenge lies ahead. Handling a star like Charan and delivering a commercially successful film is no small task. While the glimpse has set the tone, the film’s box office performance will ultimately determine whether NTR’s decision to walk away was justified—or whether he missed out on what could become another blockbuster.
