The Hyderabad Cybercrime Police have launched an investigation after Tollywood megastar and former Union Minister Konidela Chiranjeevi filed a complaint alleging that certain websites are circulating AI-generated and morphed pornographic videos using his name and likeness.

Based on the actor’s complaint, police have registered a case under Sections 67 and 67A of the IT Act, Sections 79, 294, 296, and 336(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Sections 2(c), 3, and 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.

Chiranjeevi recently obtained an ad-interim injunction from the City Civil Court to safeguard his identity from unauthorized exploitation. In his complaint, he provided detailed information about the websites that have hosted and distributed AI-generated pornographic content falsely depicting him in obscene acts with a person named “Meenakshi” and others.

“These videos are entirely fake and created using artificial intelligence, commonly referred to as deepfake pornography,” Chiranjeevi stated, explaining that the content illegally manipulates his facial features and persona to portray him in a vulgar and defamatory manner.

The actor requested immediate criminal and technical action against those responsible for creating, uploading, and distributing the fabricated videos, stressing that the content has caused severe and irreparable damage to his reputation, dignity, and privacy.

As one of India’s most respected film personalities and philanthropists, Chiranjeevi highlighted his decades-long contributions to cinema, social causes, and humanitarian work — from healthcare and education to blood donation and disaster relief.

He emphasized that these malicious acts are a direct violation of his fundamental rights under Article 21 of the Constitution, infringing upon his privacy and dignity. The megastar also alleged a pattern of organized and malicious behavior among the websites involved and urged authorities to immediately block and remove the content, as well as trace the individuals and entities responsible for this cybercrime.

The Hyderabad Cybercrime Police are now pursuing the matter with a focus on digital forensics and platform accountability, marking one of the most high-profile cases in India related to deepfake abuse and AI-generated content misuse.
