It has been 30 years that Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari released on screens. Mega Star Chiranjeevi has shared some interesting moments relating to this film and also expressed his thanks for the chief technicians worked for the film.
He started saying, “On the occasion of 30 years of Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari I wish everyone who is attached with this film. This film is an example for perfect teamwork. This timeless project could find a place in the list of top 25 films in the history of Telugu cinema. It was all happened with the invincible expression of talent by all the crafts. The unique thing about this film is, it has no generation gap. It never looks like an old styled film of bygone era even after 30 years. I feel privileged for being the part of this project”.
Sharing about the director he said, “The first laurel should be given to Raghavendra Rao for bringing this film on to the screen so meticulously. He has seen some failures before this film. So, he worked hard to hit back showing his might with this film. The result is seen. There were many those days who ridiculed when we said that we are doing this socio fantasy. They asked us who will watch Chandamama kind of stories on screen. Raghavendra Rao has given answer for all those by scoring a blockbuster”
Reminding the moments he spent with Sridevi on the sets of JVAS he said, “There is no JVAS without Sridevi. I think this film was made only because of her. And no other heroine would be as apt as Sridevi in the role of an angel. She has portrayed her innocence, her beauty and her every talent in a very expressive manner. Even now when we talk about Sridevi, the title ‘Athiloka Sundari’ flashes in our mind. That is the impact of this film on her image. For the first time, I was forced to compete with her to match with her grace and beauty. I found it a bit difficult. It was a wonderful privilege and sweet memory working with her”.
Thanking his producer Ashwini Dutt, he said, “The only producer I saw who was uncompromising is Ashwini Dutt. He is unique in his own standards. I am so much indebted to him for giving me an opportunity to work for this film”
Not forgetting the lyricist Veturi Sundara Rama Murthy, he said, “I would say ‘wow’ for the lyrics of Veturi garu. The way he penned the lyrics for Andalalo, Priyatama and Abbani tiyyani debba in a so classical, romantic and mass way respectively. Whenever I listen to the songs, the shooting days and the moments spent joining steps with Sridevi do flash on my mind”
Finally, saying about the music director and the cinematographer, “Ilayaraja garu has sent us a basic tune on harmonium in the morning at around 9 AM. We liked a lot. Lyrics were not done by then. When we called the lyricist Veturi garu, he sat with Ilayaraja and got it done by 4 pm. So, within hours the song was completed and stood as an everlasting super hit. Another great technician worked for this film is DOP Vincent garu. There was no VFX in those days. But still he could deliver the ageless effects on screen with his unique talent”.
In fact, JVAS is an ageless entertainer that entices the audiences of many generations.
