When the name Chiranjeevi comes up, two things instantly stand out: his magnetic screen presence and his legendary dance moves. But in a heartfelt revelation at the WAVES India Summit in Mumbai, the megastar turned the spotlight away from himself—and onto the man who first inspired his love for dance: Kamal Haasan.
Reflecting on his journey, Chiranjeevi shared how his early experiences shaped him. “Since childhood, I used to dance in front of my family. Their reactions gave me a high—it pushed me toward acting,” he recalled. He then spoke of his bold decision to take a train to Chennai and chase his dream in the heart of South Indian cinema. Intimidated at first by the towering figures of the industry, he chose to learn from them instead of stepping back. In 1977, he began formal acting classes, immersing himself in his craft.
Among the many legends who influenced him, three stood out. Kamal Haasan ignited his passion for dance, Amitabh Bachchan inspired him with raw emotion and daring stunts, and Mithun Chakraborty taught him the essence of authentic acting.
“Watching Kamal sir dance made me fall in love with rhythm, movement, and expression,” Chiranjeevi revealed, leaving fans both surprised and deeply moved. His humility in acknowledging his inspirations proves why he remains a timeless icon.
