CM Jagan dubs Amul as a Cooperative firm!

YSRCP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had launched the Amul Project, an initiative started by the government to stabilize the milk price in the state. After launching the project that will benefit the dairy farmers, the Chief Minister made key comments on the project.

Hitting out at the critics of the project, CM Jagan gave more information on the project to say how beneficial the project is and how it would benefit the dairy projects by ensuring a good price for the milk they gather from the dairy farmers.

The Chief Minister said that the intention behind bringing the new scheme is to stabilize the milk prices so that the farmers get good remuneration for the milk. With this, the product can be effectively marketed and the financial margin of the milk the farmers sell will be increased.

Amul is not a company. It is a cooperative firm. Amul has good processing units and the profits they see will be returned to the farmers. Amul has no profit interest. So far, Rs 10 crore benefit was created for the farmers by Amul. Per litre, the farmers earned a profit of over Rs 20, CM Jagan said.

The Andhra Pradesh government had signed an MOU with the Gujarat-based Amul company to procure milk from the dairy farmers. In more than one year, the project had spread its wings in various districts and forayed into more than 500 villages across the state.
