Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu held discussions with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Friday, seeking additional financial support for key developmental projects in the state.

CM Naidu requested an extra Rs 5,000 crore under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme. An official statement noted that Andhra Pradesh has already received Rs 2,010 crore under SASCI so far.

The Chief Minister also submitted a memorandum requesting the release of Rs 250 crore under the Single Nodal Agency (SNA Sparsh) incentive scheme for the 2024-25 financial year.

During the meeting, CM Naidu welcomed the Centre’s Purvodaya scheme aimed at the integrated development of eastern states, emphasizing that Andhra Pradesh stands to benefit significantly. He urged the Union Government to finalize the implementation framework at the earliest.

As part of his one-day visit to the national capital, the Chief Minister also met the 16th Finance Commission Chairman, Arvind Pangariya. He was accompanied by Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu and Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani.

Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP), a key ally of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, has been actively seeking fiscal support to address the state’s financial constraints. During his previous visit last month, CM Naidu had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union ministers, highlighting the acute scarcity of resources and attributing the fiscal challenges to the previous government’s “misadventures.”
