The inauguration of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 took place at the Director General of Police office in Mumbai on October 3. The event was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, senior police officials, and Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, focusing on the growing dangers of cybercrime.

During the event, Akshay Kumar shared a chilling incident involving his 13-year-old daughter, Nitara. While playing an online video game, she initially received friendly messages from a stranger. However, the conversation soon took a disturbing turn when the individual demanded inappropriate photos. Nitara promptly exited the game and informed her mother — a quick-thinking response Kumar lauded as exemplary.

He highlighted that such incidents reveal how online predators manipulate minors by gaining their trust before attempting exploitation, which can escalate to blackmail or even more tragic outcomes.

The month-long campaign aims to raise awareness about online safety, urging children, parents, and educational institutions to remain vigilant. CM Fadnavis emphasized the importance of caution and proactive measures in today’s increasingly digital world.
