Microsoft has announced Dan Shapero as the new Chief Executive Officer of its LinkedIn division, marking a major leadership transition within the professional networking platform. He will replace Ryan Roslansky, who has led LinkedIn since 2020.
Roslansky had already taken on additional responsibilities within Microsoft’s Office division last year, signaling a broader leadership shift within the company.
Dan Shapero previously served as LinkedIn’s Chief Operating Officer. He joined the platform in 2008 as General Manager of its Research Network and has since held several key leadership roles across sales, marketing, and product functions. The appointment takes effect immediately, with Shapero reporting directly to Roslansky.
The leadership change comes as LinkedIn continues to position itself at the center of an AI-driven transformation in the workplace. In a LinkedIn post, Shapero said, “The power of economic opportunity and the promise of LinkedIn has never been more important than it is today as the world is transformed by AI and professionals everywhere must transition along with it.”
Alongside this move, LinkedIn has also appointed Mohak Shroff as President of Platforms & Digital Work. In this role, he will focus on innovation and technology strategy while contributing to Microsoft’s broader future-of-work vision. Shroff will report to Roslansky.
The restructuring follows reports that LinkedIn has reached $5 billion in quarterly revenue, translating to an annual run rate of around $20 billion.
Commenting on the transition, Roslansky said, “Dan has led sales, marketing, and product across the most important parts of this business. He knows our members, our customers, and carries the mission in a way that’s genuinely rare.”
With Shapero stepping into the CEO role, Roslansky is expected to concentrate on his expanded responsibilities across Microsoft’s wider ecosystem.
