Kannada actor Darshan, who is currently serving time in prison in connection with the murder case of his fan Renuka Swamy, has reportedly faced multiple hardships during his incarceration. Initially, Darshan was held at Ballari Jail in Bengaluru but was later transferred to Parappana Agrahara Central Jail after a few days. Since his transfer, he has repeatedly petitioned the court to move him back to his previous jail, but despite multiple requests, the court has not acted on his pleas.
Recently, Darshan appeared in a Bengaluru court and made an emotional appeal to the judge. He stated, “I am facing numerous difficulties inside the jail. Due to poor living conditions, my health is deteriorating. Despite several complaints, jail authorities are not providing me with basic facilities. As per the directive given to the 57th City Civil and Sessions Court, I am still being kept in what is effectively a quarantine cell. I am not allowed to move freely in open areas and can only walk in shaded, confined spaces.”
He added, “Walking only in shaded areas has caused skin allergies and fungal infections on my hands. Even though the court ordered the jail authorities to provide me with a bed and bedding, they have ignored the instructions. I have had to raise this issue more than 20 times, yet the jail staff continue to neglect my concerns.”
Darshan’s lawyer requested the court to allow him access to the jail yard for walking, which the court agreed to. However, Darshan told the court that the jail staff continue to disregard court instructions. Additionally, he filed a petition claiming his innocence in the murder case and requesting that his name be immediately removed from the proceedings.
The court has postponed the hearing of this petition to October 9, leaving the next steps in this case eagerly anticipated.
