Sudheer Babu is striving to reclaim commercial success after a few setbacks, and now attention is also on his son, Darshan, who is following in his footsteps. Darshan had earlier tried his luck as a child artist in a couple of films, and he is now in talks to play the childhood version of Mahesh Babu in SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi.
According to insiders, the shooting for the childhood sequences is set to begin soon, and Darshan is locked for the role. While fans initially expected Gautham to portray young Mahesh, his age and availability posed a challenge. Darshan, on the other hand, shares a striking resemblance to Mahesh in Varanasi, especially with the signature hairstyle, promising to bring in the Mama-Alludu magic on screen.
Darshan previously impressed audiences as the childhood version of Prabhas in Fauzi, and his performances in these films are expected to positively impact his budding career. If both projects succeed, they could prove to be significant milestones for the young actor.
Bankrolled by Durga Arts, Varanasi is slated to hit the screens in 2027.
