Darshana Rajendran Opens Up on Criticism, Eyes Tollywood Comeback with Parada

When a film becomes a hit, praise usually follows. For any actress, success is the key that overshadows everything else, leaving little room for criticism. But Malayalam beauty Darshana Rajendran revealed that even with success, she faced not just compliments but also harsh criticism and trolling.

Darshana, who played opposite Pranav Mohanlal in the Malayalam film Hridayam, said that while the youthful love story turned out to be a big hit and the popular “Darshana” song made her a household name even in Telugu states, she personally had to endure negativity. Many people felt she did not suit Pranav on screen and criticized her pairing. She recalled that while some in the industry refrained from saying it directly, they spoke negatively behind her back. These remarks, especially about her looks, hurt her deeply, leaving her disturbed for days.

She admitted that she used to read every comment on social media, which made the criticism even harder to deal with. Still, Darshana says she never lost her confidence and accepted such reactions as part of the film industry.

Now, she is making a fresh attempt in Tollywood with Parada, directed by Praveen Kandregula, where Anupama Parameswaran plays the lead role and Darshana will be seen in a crucial character. The director revealed that Darshana was chosen for her strong performance skills.

Interestingly, this won’t be her first Telugu appearance—she actually entered the industry a decade ago with the film Moodu Mukkallo Cheppalante, where she played the role of Keerthi. The film, directed by Madhumita and produced by S.P. Charan, failed to make an impact. Whether Parada will finally give her a solid career in Telugu cinema remains to be seen. With the fierce competition among actresses in Tollywood, Darshana will need to prove her mettle to secure her place.
